AUBURN – Carroll A. Labree Jr., 86, of Ferry Road, Lisbon, passed to heaven on March 4, surrounded by his family.

He was born May 22, 1921, the son of Blanche Emma Dingley and Carroll A. Labree Sr.

He attended Lewiston elementary school and Lisbon High School. In February 1939, he accepted a job at the Lewiston Sun Journal, where he was employed for 45 years in the camera and press rooms.

During World War II, he served his country in the U.S. Army/Air Force. He was decorated with several medals for the time he spent in Alaska, contributing to the effort in the Pacific Theatre, and was honorably discharged in 1945.

On Nov. 8, 1945, he married the love of his life, Evelyn Hecimovich. Together they built their home in Lisbon and raised three daughters. They also built a cottage in Harpswell, where they spent summers enjoying boating, fishing and family gatherings for more than 50 years.

He belonged to St. Anne’s Parish, Holy Trinity, and was a member of the Knights of Columbus.

He spent his life helping friends and family. He always had a ready ear, a helping hand or a donation to give. He was willing to help anyone in need. He will be remembered by everyone who knew him as a kind and honest man. He loved his family unconditionally. He was a beloved father, husband, and grandfather, who will be forever missed by his family.

He is survived by his loving wife, Evelyn Labree of Lisbon; his two daughters, Sallyann Labree of Monmouth and Suzanne Labree Poliquin and her husband, Gerard, of Lisbon; a granddaughter, Catherine Labree Coursen of Belmont, Mass.; and a stepgrandson, Shane A. Poliquin of Lisbon.

He was predeceased by his parents; his brother, Gerry S. Labree; and a daughter, Rosanne Labree Coursen.
