BURLINGTON, Vt. (AP) – A Vermont District Court judge says he wants the trial of the man charged with the 2006 Essex school shootings to start on July 7.

What remains to be seen is where the trial will be held.

Attorneys for suspect Christopher Williams say they plan to ask for a change of venue for the trial. They argue pretrial publicity will make it too hard for Williams to get a fair trial in Chittenden County.

Williams is charged with aggravated murder and other crimes from the shootings, two of which occurred at the Essex Elementary School.

Prosecutors say they might not object to a change of venue.

Judge Geoffrey Crawford says he doesn’t know where the trial would be held outside Burlington.
