Winterport – Ernest Henry Tuttle, 99, husband of the late Irene (Goody) Tuttle, passed away March 8, at his home in Winterport while being lovingly cared for by his family. He was born Feb. 15, 1909, in Jolicure, N.B. Canada, the son of Walter and Hattie (Oulton) Tuttle.
He was a farmer and lived his life doing what he loved, caring for God’s creation. He also worked for the Hampden School Department as a bus driver and custodian. Ernest loved the kids and enjoyed them on his bus route and at school. The last few years he worked, Ernest was a Dairy Herd Inspector. He will be remembered as a loving and caring husband, father, grandfather and friend. Ernest was the holder of the Boston Post Cane for the Town of Winterport.
Ernest is survived by his children, son, Stephen L. Tuttle and his wife, Nancy, of Yeadon, Pa.; daughters Meredith I. Clements of Winterport and her fiancée, William Rodzen, Jeanne H. Foster and her husband, Michael, of Springfield, Mass., and Kathryn R. Peterson and her husband, Gary, of Minot; 15 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; two great-great grandchildren; and nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his wife of 69 years, Irene; a son, Ralph M. Tuttle; a son-in-law, Timothy Clements; and three sisters.
