LEWISTON – Gertrude .Ouellette, 87, died Sunday, March 9, at d’Youville Pavilion after a short illness. She recently lived at the Chapman House on Pleasant Street in Auburn.
She was born in Lewiston on July 25, 1920, the youngest daughter of Ludger and Irene Turcotte Dionne. She attended Holy Cross School. On April 15, 1944, she married Eugene Ouellette. She worked at Bates Mill as a stitcher for over 40 years, retiring in 1982. Her husband died on June 3, 1999.
She was member of Holy Cross Church and a past member of the Ladies of St. Anne and Holy Cross senior citizens. She enjoyed her family, and she loved taking her walks at the Auburn Mall. She enjoyed playing cards and making puzzles, especially with the friends she made while living at Maison Marcotte.
She is survived by her son, Normand and wife, Nora, of Dedham, Mass.; her daughter, Anita Jean and husband, Laurier, of Harpswell; five grandchildren, Brian, Keith and Neil Ouellette, and Eric and Nicole Jean; two great-grandchildren; her brother Albert Dionne and his wife, Angele, of Auburn; and her sister-in-law, Doris Labbe, of Auburn.
She was predeceased by her sister, Sister Rita Dionne.
