DURHAM – The Durham/Freeport/Pownal Reorganization Planning Committee will hold public meetings in the three towns prior to filing its consolidation report with the state.
At the public meetings, committee members will share results of their work and offer an opportunity for public comment.
The meetings are at:
• Pownal Elementary School, 7 p.m. Wednesday, March 12;
• Freeport High School library, 7 p.m. Thursday, March 13; and
• Durham Elementary School, 7 p.m. Tuesday, March 18.
If you cannot attend, but would like to submit comments, e-mail [email protected].
The school systems are working to meet a state mandate to form new, larger administrative districts. The plan would reduce the number of school districts from 290 to 75 and would save taxpayers $120 million by 2011, according to the Department of Education’s analysis.
