HARRISON – A candlelight vigil will be held Wednesday night in memory of four-month-old Zachary Henderson, who drowned last week in a bathtub.
Kelly Howard of Harrison said the vigil will take place at 7 p.m. in front of 12 Mill St., where the incident occurred.
“The candlelight vigil for Zachery Henderson was just an idea between a few saddened Harrison residents, and has grown into a nice event to remember the infant’s short time on this earth,” said Howard in an e-mail.
Howard said the group was unable to get a pastor to speak at the event, but people may speak or play songs. She said some candles will be available, but advised participants to bring their own.
Police say the infant’s mother, 43-year-old Pamela Henderson, apparently fell asleep in the bathtub with the baby. The mother was taken to Bridgton Hospital after finding Zachary dead and attempting suicide, police said.
“I knew the family briefly and to my best knowledge, Pam Henderson was a single parent going through a mess of a situation. She has had a tough life over the past years. The baby was a beautiful, fun loving, quiet baby,” Howard said.
Howard said there is no set ending time for the vigil.
