Dear Sun Spots: I am considering parting with some of my collections that I have had over the past 25 years, including World War II and older autographed photos of generals, pilots, heroes and POWs, NASA memorabelia of commanders, crews, an Apollo hat, jacket, book and autographed photo, a baseball T-shirt autographed by Red Sox players, plus other items, such as Indian artifacts and items from movie stars like Johnny Carson and Jimmy Durante.

I’m looking for someone with a computer and camera willing to get these items ready for sale on eBay, in exchange for a percentage of the proceeds.

If anyone is interested, please call me at 783-3317. – C. MacDonald, Lewiston

Dear Sun Spots: The (new) dining room at Bates College. Could you tell me the address? The time food is being served? Is it a buffet or a menu? Last of all, the cost?

And, I read recently about a person I think who lives in the Twin Cities and sells traction aids. I would like the person’s name and phone number. – R.B.J., Lewiston

Answer: The dining hall at Bates College is at 136 Central Ave. in Lewiston. Service times and cost is as follows: Breakfast is served Monday through Saturday from 7 to 10:30 a.m., $4.50; lunch is served Monday through Saturday from 10:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m., $6; dinner is served Sunday through Thursday from 4:30 to 8:30 p.m. and Friday through Saturday from 4:30 to 8 p.m., $7; brunch is served on Sunday from 10:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m., $6.75.

Christine Schwartz, director of dining services at the college, cautions readers that although anyone is invited to dine at the Bates facility, it is not meant to substitute as a restaurant and the needs, and seating space, is meant for students first.

Sun Spots could not find anything published recently about a specific person in the Twin Cities who sells traction aids, although readers have recommended using kitty litter or shoving cardboard under tires to reduce spinning and to increase traction. Does anyone in the Twin Cities who know of someone who sells a specific product. Readers? Anyone have a recommendation?

Dear Sun Spots: I’m writing in response to a request that was put in Sun Spots for someone who was looking for a carpenter to build a church bird house. I may be interested in building it, but would like to see pictures of it to see how much is involved in doing it. If interested, please call Dan at 713-4028. – Dan Brooks, Lewiston

Dear Sun Spots: Regarding “No Name, Durham” of Sun Spots on March 4, my mother has a galvanized snow scoop. Her phone is 782-6980. – No name, no town

Dear Sun Spots: I am trying to locate any information on a family member – Thomas Madigan or Maddigan. He would be in his early 90s, if still alive.

I believe he would have originally been from the area surrounding Rumford, Livermore, Canton or Turner, or even a wider range of towns, or he may have spent some time in these areas back in the late 1940s.

Any information, no matter how small, would be greatly appreciated. You can respond back to Sun Spots with a phone number, e-mail address or mailing address and I will be in contact with you. – No name, no town.
