First-graders at the Elm Street School in Mechanic Falls recently ran a Pennies for Puppies program to celebrate the 100th day of school on Feb. 14. Students contributed their pennies to the Greater Androscoggin Humane Society and more than $180 was raised. The pennies weighed 64 pounds.
