Dear Sun Spots: Volunteers are busy preparing for the annual Leavitt Area High School auction, being held on Saturday, March 15. This is the main fund-raising event to support Leavitt’s Project Graduation. Project Graduation is a chemical-free activity that has proven to reduce teenage fatalities and injuries on graduation night. The auction will be held in the LAHS cafeteria. Preview of items starts at 8:00 a.m. and the auction begins at 9:00 a.m. Some of the many great items donated by area businesses include: train tickets, gift certificates, scrapbooking supplies, an American flag flown over the U.S. Capitol, and much more. Breakfast and lunch will be available during the auction. For information or to make a donation to Project Graduation, please call Stacey Pellerin at 933-3897. – Stacy, Turner

Dear Sun Spots: Do you know of someone in the area that transfers 8 mm movie reels onto DVDs? – Rose, Poland

Answer: In addition to responses from our readers, Sun Spots spoke with Patrick at Via Vision Productions, 18 College St., Lewiston. They can transfer your 8 mm movie reels to a standard DVD for 15 cents a foot plus $10 for the DVD. Your reels can be transferred to an archival DVD for $15. An archival DVD is 100 times more resistant to surface scratching than standard DVDs and can resist fingerprints. Each DVD comes with a label and a case. They offer many other services, including film cleaning and color correction. You may call the business at 783-2550 to arrange a time to drop off your film, or you can download an order form at their Web site, www.viavisionproductions.com and mail in your request.

You may also consider contacting Video Services Unlimited, 782-5650. They are at 1065 Riverside Drive in Auburn.
