On behalf of patients throughout Maine who have been helped, we thank all the local blood donors.

The American Red Cross, being in vital need for blood due, in part, to bad weather closing many blood drive sites, asked the Anderson/Staples Post 112 of the American Legion for a 4-hour blood drive at the Post home on March 8. The drive was a success, with 49 presenting donors signing in and 43 pints of lifesaving blood collected. Four people gave blood for the first time.

Without those donors and sponsors throughout the state, the Red Cross’ ability to serve the community would be greatly reduced. Those who donate blood play an integral part in providing for the citizens of Maine.

We congratulate all who responded to the vital need for blood.
