Down through the years, taxes have been raised to help the schools. The public allowed Megabucks to come into the state to help the schools. Then Powerball was allowed to come into the state to help the schools. The slots in Bangor are to help the schools. Consolidation of school districts was ordered, to help school budgets.
So why is Gov. Baldacci trying to cut the school budget?
Who is budgeting the taxpayers’ money?
All that money was put into the budget and there is a need for more?
Maine is one of the highest taxed states in America, and yet more money is needed.
The goverment of Iraq sent people here to Maine to study how the state handles its budget. They were here one day. Does that not tell us something?
Parents are trying to keep their children here in Maine after college, but I cannot blame young people for leaving.
It is time the real Mainers stood up and took charge of this state and vote people in who have hopes and best intent to provide a future for our children.
That is my opinion.
