LEWISTON – The third annual Lewiston Housing Authority Youth Enrichment Opportunity Program art exhibition was recently held at Chase Hall, Bates College. The framed art was created by the students in the enrichment program.
The Hillview Resource Center and Bates College partnership provided an opportunity for the children of public housing to show their art at Bates. It also created a venue for them to see some of the Bates students who participate in the children’s programming at Hillview.
Their art was recently on display at Central Maine Medical Center and St. Mary’s Regional Medical Center. Art pieces are also hung at the B Street Community Center. Selected art pieces from the enrichment program have been donated to local organizations and agencies for their fundraisers and auctions.
Each year the housing authority holds an art festival at the Hillview Resource Center where the children display their artistic and musical talents. This year’s festival will be held at 3:30 p.m. May 13. Paintings on display can be purchased and 100 percent of the proceeds will go to the artist.
