AUBURN – Approximately 1,200 high school juniors recently visited the campus of Central Maine Community College to learn how to conduct an effective college search.
In a program called “College 101,” coordinated by CMCC Admissions Director Betsy Libby, the college joined forces with representatives from Bates College, University of Maine at Farmington, Andover College and USM-Lewiston Auburn.
The event consisted of two 45-minute sessions that included guest speakers and student panels. Topics covered all aspects of the college search process, from initial exploration to the application process and financial aid.
The sessions were enhanced by “Making It Count,” a program which has been offered to more than 350,000 students nationwide by Monster.com. The program has been offered free to high school juniors. A workbook was provided to students to follow along with during the presentation and to take with them as a future resource.
