FARMINGTON – Walkers, cancer survivors (anyone who has ever been diagnosed with cancer), community leaders, team captains and workers are needed to make the American Cancer Society Relay For Life a reality.
Relay For Life allows participants from all walks of life – including patients, medical support staff, corporations, civic and other organizations and community volunteers – to celebrate, remember and join together in the fight against cancer.
It is a team event where participants walk around a track relay-style overnight. Teams of cancer-fighting enthusiasts will gather at Mt. Blue High School on June 13 to show their support and dedication. Volunteers from the Farmington community are needed to begin planning for the event.
“Relay For Life is as much an awareness raiser about the progress against cancer as it is a fundraiser,” said Colleen Bate, event chairwoman.
Volunteers are needed to organize and recruit teams, seek community support, underwrite, coordinate logistics, find refreshments and prizes, plan entertainment and lend their support in any way.
Those who would like to join the Relay For Life as a volunteer or team participant should contact the American Cancer Society at 1-800-ACS-2345 or online at www.cancer.org or www.relayforlife.org.
