RUMFORD – The Rumford/Mexico area is the focus of a pilot project aiming to improve public access to CareerCenter services in the region. Jobseekers and employers will be served in three new CareerCenter service points in northern Oxford County. Partners in the initiative include the Maine Department of Labor, Western Maine Community Action and other service providers.

CareerCenter customers can access information on jobs, training resources, and business services at the service points, which are the University College/Rumford-Mexico, 13 Brown St., Mexico, open Tuesdays, 10 a.m.-noon; Bethel Adult Ed, Telstar Regional High School, Bethel, open Wednesdays, 10 a.m.-noon; and Region 9 Adult Ed, 255 River Road, Mexico, open Thursdays, 1-3 p.m.

Some services offered will include job-search and job-posting services for workers and employers; pre-employment programs, as well as resources targeted to getting and keeping a job; consulting for unemployed and under-employed workers; and information about and access to training and education programs and services.
