WORCESTER, Mass. (AP) – Two neighbors helped an 85-year-old woman escape an intense fire that destroyed a triple decker in Worcester.

Jose Ortiz and Sandra Gonzalez were walking on Everard Street on Friday afternoon when they noticed smoke pouring from the building.

They also saw Marion Miller looking out a second floor window.

Gonzalez went to second floor, while Ortiz kicked down the doors on the first and third floors to check those apartments.

Finding no one, he helped Gonzalez lead Miller to safety.

Shortly after fire crews arrived, an explosion blew out the third floor.

No one was hurt in the blaze.
