DURHAM – Strong winds and blowing snow coupled with icy road conditions were blamed for a single-vehicle crash on Route 9 early Saturday evening.
According to the Maine State Trooper Lenny Bolton, John Jessee, 22, of Brunswick was driving north on Route 9 up a steep hill covered with blowing snow, when a strong gust of wind pushed against the side of his truck causing it to roll onto its side.
The road was very icy underneath the snow and had not been sanded, Bolton said. Jessee escaped injury, and damage to the side of his 2008 Nissan pickup truck was estimated at $6,000 in the 6 p.m. crash.
