LEWISTON – Republican Michael Dumas is running for House District 74, which represents a portion of Lewiston in the Maine House of Representatives.
A Lewiston native, Dumas is employed as an analyst for South Portland-based Seligman Data Corp. He serves on the Lewiston Board of Appeals and the Lewiston Solid Waste Committee, and was recently elected to the executive board of the Lewiston Republican City Committee as treasurer.
“I am very excited about the prospect of representing the area that I was raised and spent the majority of my life in,” Dumas said in a prepared statement. “One only need to look as far as the $200-million-dollar budget shortfall in Augusta to realize that we need change. Our Medicaid system needs a thorough review, and we must put more control in the hands of the individual municipalities regarding taxes. Unfunded mandates from Augusta and bigger government are not solutions.
“When it comes down to it, Maine’s hard-working middle-class families deserve better. It is my goal to run a hard-fought, positive campaign and ultimately represent the fine citizens of my district, regardless of affiliation, because at the end of the day, we are all Mainers.”
