Avon announced a partnership with Lewiston-born actor Patrick Dempsey on Monday to create a new signature fragrance for men. No name has been released for the fragrance, which is set to debut in November.
“This is an extremely exciting opportunity for me to work with Avon – a brand I have long respected as a global powerhouse with a lot of heart and soul,” Dempsey said in a statement from the company.
His wife, makeup artist Jillian Dempsey, has been Avon’s global creative color director since 2006.
This is the first time creating fragrances for Dempsey, who grew up in Buckfield. “He will be actively involved with every aspect of the project,” according to the company’s statement.
The actor recently donated $250,000 to begin fundraising for the Patrick Dempsey Center for Cancer Hope & Healing at CMMC, the hospital where he was born. The center opened its doors Monday.
In 2007, Dempsey won both a Screen Actor’s Guild Award and a People’s Choice Award for his role as Dr. Shepherd – aka “Dr. McDreamy” – on the ABC show “Grey’s Anatomy.” He most recently appeared in the Disney film “Enchanted.”
