Met: Tuesday

Issue: The council has been working on revising and updating town ordinances.

Scoop: Following a final public hearing councilors voted to expand the Village Zone in Lisbon Center.

Issue: Codes Enforcement Officer Gerry Samson gave a presentation to councilors as part of the first reading of a proposed well-head protection ordinance, which was tabled to the May 6 meeting to allow more time to study it.

Issue: The first reading of proposed updates to the flood plain ordinance was approved by the council 5-0 and final passage is expected to take place at the April 18 meeting.

Issue: Councilors heard a first reading of a draft proposal for a wind mill ordinance to be considered later.

Issue: Each year the council signs the annual dog warrant directing the animal control officer to contact owners of dogs unlicensed as of April 1, collect licensing fees and late fees or face prosecution under state law.

Issue: Town Manager Steve Eldridge updates councilors at each meeting detailing ongoing activities.

Scoop: Eldridge reported department heads are working on their budgets in order to meet a directive to reduce them by 5 percent and said they are doing “pretty well.”

Upcoming: The Town Council will hold a special meeting at 7 p.m. Tuesday, April 8, in the town office at 300 Lisbon St. to review the proposed school budget. The public is invited to attend.

Also: Economic Development Development Director Rosie Bradley will meet with the council at their May 20 session to update councilors on her activities.

Also: The Downtown Revitalization Committee is taking a study done by Planning Decisions in 2000 “off the shelf” with an eye toward implementing some the recommendations.
