WATERVILLE (AP) – A Connecticut man faces heroin trafficking and other charges following his arrest Wednesday, Waterville police said.

Darryl Copeland, 25, of Hartford, was arrested after Waterville police obtained a search warrant and confiscated illegal drugs.

Police said that prior to Copeland’s drug arrest, they had detained him following an assault complaint. Copeland was ordered to appear in district court on that charge Wednesday. Police seized 98 bags of a substance that tested positive for heroin. Copeland also was allegedly in possession of cocaine and prescription drugs.

Copeland was in Kennebec County jail after failing to post bail Wednesday.
