AUGUSTA (AP) – Maine State Police are calling the death of a 60-year-old Augusta woman and her ex-boyfriend an apparent murder-suicide.

Police on Wednesday ruled the death of Naomi Buzzell a homicide. She was found Tuesday afternoon in her second-floor apartment on South Belfast Avenue after police were contacted by relatives.

On Wednesday morning, police with a search warrant went to the Somerville home of 63-year-old Albert Violette. They found Violette behind a shed on his property, the victim of an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound.

Violette and Buzzell’s long-term relationship had broken off in the past year or so.

, but they had been seeing each other again in the past two months.

Maine State Police and Augusta police are continuing their investigations.
