BIDDEFORD (AP) – A 46-year-old Scarborough man is in police custody after a holdup at a bank in Biddeford.

Biddeford police say Robert Patch was turned over to FBI agents and is expected to face a federal charge of armed robbery.

Authorities say a man entered the Maine Bank and Trust on Adams Street at 10:44 a.m. Wednesday, showed a weapon to a teller and demanded money.

He fled with an undisclosed amount of cash, but bank officials were able to provide police with a description of the robber and his vehicle, including a license plate number.

Patch was stopped a short time later when Saco police spotted a vehicle matching the description. Police are not commeting on the type of weapon used in the holdup.
