PITTSFIELD, Mass. (AP) – There has been a delay in sentencing for an Otis man convicted of child rape charges.

The Berkshire district attorney’s office said the sentencing hearing for 55-year-old Alden Hewett, which had been scheduled for Thursday, has been moved to April 29.

Hewett was convicted Tuesday of sexually assaulting a boy over a three-year period beginning in 1991.

Hewett was a former police constable in New Hartford, Conn., and was once suspected of molesting several boys in Connecticut in the 1970s and 1980s. State police said in a 1992 report that they could not bring any charges against Hewett because none of the cases fell within the statute of limitations.

Hewett currently manages a ski area in the Berkshires.
