Androscoggin Bank:

A big part of the promise of Banking Your Way, made by Androscoggin Bank, is built on the ability of a locally-controlled financial institution to be close to its customers and their needs and interests; to be nimble enough to provide new, innovative solutions to the emerging complexities of doing business in the challenging economy of the 21st century, and to offer a full array of state-of-the art banking products and services, for families and individuals and for the small businesses that are part of the fabric of Maine.

Androscoggin Bank has for many years pioneered the use of electronic banking to make managing money as easy as possible for its customers: whether by phone, computer or both, handling both personal and business finances electronically has never been easier, and Androscoggin has steadily provided its customers with the latest technology. Bill paying, account reconciliation, transfers between accounts, statement verifications and more have been commonplace for some time. Now banking-without-walls is becoming even more robust with the advent of eDeposit, an exciting new technological advance that virtually eliminates the need to visit a branch office. With an eDeposit scanner on your desk, you can scan checks and make an instant deposit without ever having to leave your business.

“eDeposit saves time, money and effort,” explains Peggy Rivard, who along with Bob Stone, is a small business advisor at the bank’s main office, on Lisbon Street in Lewiston. “This service is particularly useful to anyone who has to handle lots of checks, or who makes frequent deposits. Think about how hard it is for someone in the hospitality industry to get away to the bank at the height of tourist season, for example. With eDeposit, they don’t have to get away.”

It has been calculated that someone making daily deposits and having about a 35 mile round trip to their bank branch could save as much as $5,000 a year at today’s gas prices. eDeposit makes it easier for small businesses to consolidate their accounts and banking relationships at a single branch, too, instead of having to make deposits at multiple locations.

“We have a team of highly-trained technical specialists working with our eDeposit service,” Rivard said. “They will install the devices and teach you how to use them. Plus, we provide on-going tech support. In fact, our technical service is at least equal to any that can be provided by the big out-of-state banks – probably better, since we’re local and generally have a better idea of what’s important to our customers.”

Androscoggin Bank is making the eDeposit scanners available to their customers at a discounted price of about 50%, with no license fees, and balance offsets can often be used to cover monthly charges. eDeposit is the latest in a full range of commercial services, from business checking to sweep accounts, to lockboxes, merchant credit card services and commercial lending, to be offered by Androscoggin Bank, which will shortly introduce the capacity to open a new account entirely on-line. “It’s all about making banking as easy as possible for our customers, to make sure that they can access our bank anyway they like: whatever way is most convenient and least costly for them,” says Rivard.

Now, in addition to the 12 convenient, if conventional, Androscoggin Bank branches, there’s the newest branch: the one that sits right on your desktop.
