John McCain will be the Republican nominee for president of the United States. What we know about Sen. McCain is that he will be the second coming of George W. Bush. This is just what American needs for the next four years: a continuation of the policies that have led the nation to constitutional, foreign policy, military and economic ruination.

On just the single topic of Iraq, a war which most Americans now oppose, McCain is a disaster waiting to happen. He says U.S. forces may have to stay in Iraq for 100 or 10,000 years. Unfortunately, that prediction may come true if McCain becomes president because he doesn’t even know the difference between a Sunni and a Shi’a. (Does that remind you of anyone?) For example, he has claimed at least five times that Iran, a Shi’a nation, was supporting al-Qaida in Iraq, a Sunni group.

America cannot afford to have a man of that level of ignorance as the next president.

I honor Sen. McCain’s service and sacrifice on behalf of the country as a member of the military, but that is not a good reason to make him president.
