GILFORD, N.H. (AP) – Police are looking for witnesses to a car accident that killed two high school students in Gilford.

The two boys were killed in the collision with a tanker truck on Wednesday as they were preparing to fish at nearby Ellacoya State Park.

Police said 16-year-old Alex Rowson of Gilford was driving and 17-year-old Ben Emmond of Lakeport was his passenger. The driver of tanker truck was not hurt.

Police officer Chris Jacques says that the vehicles appeared to have hit near the road’s centerline. He did not believe drugs, alcohol or high speed were a factor.

Rowson was a junior at Gilford High School; Emmond was a junior at Laconia High School. Both took classes at the Huot Technical Center in Laconia.

Funerals for both boys are scheduled for Tuesday.
