VFW meeting

LEWISTON – Longley-Dionne VFW Post 9150 will meet at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday, April 15, at the Lewiston Multi-Purpose Center. All officers and members are encouraged to attend.

The agenda will include election of officer, Buddy Poppy sales, Memorial Day parade and VFW State Convention.

Any eligible veteran wishing to join the VFW should contact Armand Bussiere at 688-2291.

Canine classes

AUBURN – The Great Falls Dog Obedience Club is starting another six-week dog obedience class Wednesday, April 16, in Auburn. Beginners will meet at 6:30 p.m. and advanced at 7:30. Dogs must be at least 3 1/2 months old. To register and for more information, call the club trainer, Diane Harrington, at 784-7578.

Seniors dinner

AUBURN – First Auburn Seniors will meet at 11 a.m. Wednesday, April 16, at the Hasty Community Center. Members should bring utensils and cups for the lasagna dinner prepared by the Recreation Department. Postponed because of inclement weather, Super Bingo will be the program. Meal tickets will be on sale for the anniversary dinner at Martindale on Wednesday, May 7. Cost is $6. Kathy Haley and Phil House will provide a musical program.

Attendance at the April 2 meeting was 62. A successful food auction was held with Ray Tassinari as auctioneer. Prize winners were Joan Webb, Virginia Trafford, Rita Gagnon, Mary Tassinari and Adele Delmonico. A $50 deposit is due for the Killington, Vt., trip in August.

Blood drive

AUBURN – Andy Valley Council 8742, Knights of Columbus, in cooperation with Thayer Corp., will hold a blood drive from 1 to 6 p.m. Friday, April 25, at Thayer Corp., 1400 Hotel Road. Call the Red Cross at 1-800-448-3543 to set up an appointment. All presenting donors will receive a coupon for a free personal pan pizza from Pizza Hut.

‘Night of Laughs’

AUBURN – The Auburn Firefighters Union Children’s Fund is conducting its annual fundraiser. Area businesses and residents are being contacted for sponsorship and ticket sales. The union’s annual “Night of Laughs” shows will be held at 7 and 9:15 p.m. Friday, June 6, at the Hilton Garden Inn. For more information, call 782-4800.
