Society speaker

POLAND – The Poland Historical Society will meet at 7 p.m. Wednesday, April 16, at the Old Schoolhouse, 1229 Maine St., next to the Poland Town Office. Cindy Robbins will discuss the historic district being proposed for Poland Spring and the activities on the hill this summer. Refreshments will be served after the meeting. The public is invited.

Chapter to meet

LISBON FALLS – Pioneer Chapter 11, Order of the Eastern Star, will meet at 7 p.m. Thursday, April 17, at the Ancient York Masonic Hall, Route 196. Members will honor the stations of secretary and treasurer. Refreshments will follow the meeting. All members of the Order are invited.

‘Night on Town’

AUBURN – The Androscoggin Historical Society will meet at 6 p.m. Tuesday, April 22, when Keith W. Brann will speak on “A Night on the Town” at the society, Androscoggin County Building. Brann will take a look at entertainment in the days before television. Admission is free and it is wheelchair accessible

Brann resides in New Auburn with his wife and two children. He has a BA in journalism from the University of Maine in Orono, is a past president of the Wilton Historical Society, a charter member of the Foothills Land Conservancy and is on the board of directors of the Androscoggin Historical Society.

The talk was originally scheduled for Feb. 26, but was postponed due to the weather.

Student art show

LISBON FALLS – Lisbon High School will hold its 20th annual student art show from 2:15 to 3:30 and 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, May 7, in the library.

More than 200 art students will exhibit work in a wide range of media, including clay, photography, collage, pen and ink, watercolor, pastel and pencil. Senior artists will be highlighted.

Refreshments will be provided by Students Achieving A Functional Education, LHS cafeteria staff, foods class and art students. The exhibit is free and open to the public.
