MASHANTUCKET, Conn. (AP) – Foxwoods Resort Casino reported a net slot win of $60.8 million, an $8.3 million decrease from March 2007.

The casino’s owners, the Mashantucket Pequot Tribal Nation, also reported a $15.2 million contribution to the state for March, increasing to $2.636 billion the amount given to the state since slot machines were introduced at Foxwoods in 1993.

Foxwoods says the casino and others are seeing a decline due to higher gas prices and growing concerns of a recession. Foxwoods also blamed the decrease on heavy construction along Route 2 that has disrupted traffic flow, and the ongoing construction associated with improvements in the Grand Pequot Tower.

The MGM Grand at Foxwoods will open in May. Foxwoods also is completing renovations in the Grand Pequot Tower that will showcase high-end retail outlets.
