Dear Sun Spots: My dad went to see Dr. Lonsdale on Russell Street in Lewiston on Monday, April 7. One of the patients took his jacket in error so now my Dad has his jacket. They were both green. If the patient that has my Dad’s jacket reads this article, please call Paul at 784-1029 and we will be more than happy to return your jacket to you. Thank you. – Michelle, Sabattus.
Dear Sun Spots: Many many years ago I purchased a Hahn “45” CO2 powered BB gun. It was used for a short time for target practice, but became useless because it would not retain CO2 after the capsule was put in the gun. I happened to come upon the gun again a few weeks ago, and I wondered if there is anyone or a company in Maine that can repair CO2 powered guns. It was manufactured by P.V. Hahn Mfg. Co. Inc. I don’t think they are still in operation. Thank you for any help you can provide. – Marshall, No Town.
Answer: We believe the CO2 gun you are referring to might be the second product of Philip Yawman (P.Y.) Hahn Mfg. Co. Inc. Hahn was the general manager and treasurer of the Crosman Corp. According to the Crosman Web site, he reintroduced CO2 powered airguns to the public in the 1930s, this one in particular was manufactured between 1958-1970. Some experts say that only 2 BB guns were manufactured under the P.Y. Hahn name; several more variations were manufactured under the Crosman name.
Sun Spots spoke with a Crosman spokesperson and there are currently no companies in Maine that repair these guns and with our resources, we were also unable to locate anyone locally. The closest repair shops are in Connecticut; Scorpion Air Gun Repair, North Haven, (203) 865-1272, and Horchler’s Gun Shop, Barkhamsted, (860) 379-1977. On a good note, we spoke with a paint ball enthusiast who believes someone who knows how to repair paint ball guns should be able to help. If there are any in the area we urge you to contact Sun Spots.
Dear Sun Spots: I have a small box of old stamps and would like to hear from anyone with interest in them. (207) 782-8783. – W.D.T., No Town.
Answer: In addition to responses from our readers, you can contact Julien Gosselin at 784-7892. He was a stamp dealer for many years. He is now retired, but still collects stamps. He is always interested in buying stamp collections that contain material he could add to his own personal collection.
Dear Sun Spots: I am an avid reader of your column and I have seen that there are some folks who are searching their genealogy in this column. I have been working on this for a few years now and am finding there may be other ancestors in the Norway/ Bethel area who have not yet been identified.
My maiden name is Huston, there is no “O” in the name. My father comes from the Lisbon/Freeport area. I have found them but want to make contact with anyone else out there in other parts of the state especially Norway toward Bethel.
If you are a descendant, or know someone who might be, please contact me at [email protected]. Thank you. – No Name, Turner.
