PORTLAND – Jay Johnson scored the game-winning run on Justin Hedrick’s bases loaded wild pitch with two outs to give the Sea Dogs the 5-4 win in 11-innings Monday night.

Portland had one hit in seven innings off Connecticut’s bullpen until picking up two in the 11th inning. John Otness had three hits for the Sea Dogs. Bubba Bell and Aaron Bates provided RBI singles for the Dogs in the first inning.

Connecticut tied the game in the second inning on a run-scoring double by David Maroul and an RBI groundout by Eddy Martinez-Esteve.

Johnson put the Sea Dogs back in the lead with a sacrifice fly and Otness roped an RBI single off the Maine Monster. The two teams went scoreless until the eighth inning when the Defenders tied the game.

Chad Rhoades fanned five over two innings for Portland, and Miquel Asencio held Connecticut scoreless during innings nine and ten. Jose Vaquendano became the first three-game winner in the Eastern League by pitching a scoreless 11th.
