NEW PORTLAND – Maynard and Theresa Handrahan of New Portland are very pleased to announce the engagement of their daughter, Danika Lynn Handrahan, to Ryan Alan Bates, son of Natalie Abraham of Madison and the late Kirby E. Bates and his wife, Sharon Bates of Burnham.

Miss Handrahan is a 2002 graduate of Carrabec High School and is assistant branch manager for Camden National Bank.

Mr. Bates is a 2001 graduate of Carrabec High School and after serving in the Marine Corps is currently employed at MKJ Builders as a carpenter.

An Aug. 1, 2009, wedding is being planned.
