Society speakers to revisit sanatorium
HEBRON – The Hebron Historical Society will give a presentation on the Western Maine Tuberculosis Sanatorium at 7 p.m. Friday, April 25, at the Hebron Fire Hall.
The program will be preceded by a potluck dinner at 6 p.m. All are invited.
The newly published book, “Western Maine Sanatorium Revisited,” will be introduced and available for sale. It was compiled and edited by Ben Conant and Doug and Nancy Cooper. They completed the efforts of long-time society President Bowman Sturtevant, who died in August 2007.
Attendees are encouraged to participate by relating their experiences and knowledge of the institution, which operated on Greenwood Mountain in Hebron from 1901 to 1959.
A general membership meeting of the society will be held at 7 p.m. Tuesday, April 22, at the fire hall to organize the event and nominate directors.
