Church sale

PARIS – A spring sale will be held from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, April 26, at Deering Memorial United Methodist Church. There will be a baked goods table, white elephant tables, rummage and cutlery table.

Chinese auction

PARIS – A Chinese auction will be held Saturday, April 26, at Oxford Hills Comprehensive High School. Bidding will be from 5 to 6:30 p.m. and drawing of winners will be at 6:30 p.m. Proceeds will go to Responsible Pet Care of Oxford Hills. Cost for tickets is 10 for $2.50, also bonus tickets. There will be more than 200 items, and food and refreshments will be available.

Trustee needed

PARIS – The Paris Public Library has an opening on its board of trustees. Any Paris resident age 18 or older, interested in the library and serving on its volunteer board, may submit their name for consideration before May 14 to any board member or library staff.

The board of trustees meets the third Thursday of each month and oversees the policies, finances and activities of the library. Members are Bonnie Ripley, Ray Glover, Carol Huotari, Connie Allen, Carolyn Blais, Terry Cole, John Gould, Karen Ellis, Sarah Otterson and Florence Wendell.

Grange celebration

BETHEL – Alder River Grange 145 will hold an open house in celebration of Grange Month at 7:30 p.m. Friday, April 25, at the Grange Hall, 1895 Intervale Road.

State Grange Master Jim Owens will attend along with other guests to honor two Alder River members who will receive special certificates in recognition of 50 years of continuous membership.

There will also be refreshments and an opportunity to learn more about the family organization that has served many Maine communities since the 1870s. Everyone is welcome.

Church events

PARIS – Trinity Lutheran Church, 34 Buckfield Road, South Paris, invites the public to attend Sunday school and adult Bible study at 9 a.m. Sunday, April 27, the sixth Sunday after Easter. A worship service will take place at 10:15 a.m. followed by coffee, refreshments and fellowship.

Alpha course

OXFORD – “The Alpha Course,” a practical introduction to Christianity not affiliated with a particular church, will start at 6:30 p.m. Thursday, May 1, at His Place Teen Center, 254 Webber Brook Road. There wil be supper and refreshments. Call Bert Rugg at 743-9503 or 515-3000 for details.

Society movie

GREENWOOD – The Greenwood Historical Society will meet at 7 p.m. Wednesday, May 7, at the Historical building on Main Street. Blaine Mills will show a movie on the “Red Paint People.” Everyone is welcome.
