BANGOR (AP) – Three best-selling novelists will read from their works at a June 7 fundraiser in Bangor for Democratic Senate candidate Tom Allen.

Horror writer Stephen King says he will join John Grisham and Tess Gerritsen, known respectively for their legal and medical thrillers, at the $25-a-person event at the Bangor Auditorium.

King said on his Web site that he doesn’t often get involved in politics, but what has happened to America in the last eight years is “downright scary.”
