Dear Sun Spots: I am hoping you can help me. Could you get the information of when the last of our quarters of 2008 will be out? Thank you. – D. Crowell, Sabattus.

Answer:
Sun Spots spoke with Doreen at Republic Jewelry & Collectibles, 212 Center St., Auburn, who said the state quarters come out five times a year, about every 10 weeks. The last one for 2008 will probably be out in December and it will be for Hawaii.

Dear Sun Spots: Family and friends have decided to take action against cancer by participating in the American Cancer Society’s Relay for Life event that takes place at Brunswick High School on May 16 and 17. Relay for Life is about celebration, remembrance and hope. By participating we are honoring cancer survivors, paying tribute to the lives lost to the disease and raising money to help fight it. Our team, Jody’s Weekend Warriors, was started by captain Erica Duval as a way of honoring her dad, Jody Duval, who died of cancer several years ago. As part of our fundraising efforts we are holding a yard sale and bottle drive on April 26 at 420 Ridge Road in Lisbon. Bottles may be dropped off the day of the yard sale. On April 27, we are holding a food sale at Food City in Lisbon Falls. We are also raffling off theme baskets, such as cooking, gardening, entertainment and more! Luminaries can be purchased for $10 to honor a loved one who has suffered from the horrible disease. We are very excited to be a part of this year’s event. For more information on any of the events, to arrange pickup of bottles or to purchase a luminary or raffle tickets please call Erica at 212-3713 or Trudy at 353-8579. Thanks for your help. – Trudy, Lisbon.

Dear Sun Spots: I am looking for a person in the Farmington area or wherever who fixes Singer sewing machines, not the portable kind, but the kind that is built into a desk-like cabinet. Yes it is old, but I need it fixed. The arm that makes the machine run, the motor is blown or something. If there is anyone that makes house calls to fix that would be even better as I live in Rangeley. Thank you. Someone can contact me at 864-5475 Thanks. – Virginia, Rangeley.
