It has happened. The flag of these United States of America has been laid down on the floor to be used as a carpet. I don’t know what is wrong with some people today.
I could not believe what I saw on the front page of the Sun Journal on April 16. I cannot believe someone would consider such a project, and I don’t know why the paper printed a photo and story about it.
Thank the good lord for the veteran who tried to keep people from stepping on Old Glory.
When I was a very young person, I was taught to honor and protect the flag of this nation; never let the flag touch the ground, even in battle. Never deface the flag. It should not be walked on.
I, and many others, went to war and fought for freedom, our flag, and our nation.
The woman who did the project should write a letter of apology to every Veterans of Foreign Wars and every American Legion post, and all other veterans’ organizations in the state and the nation. She should be ashamed for using the flag of this great country in her project.
I would ask her to please think a little before ever doing something like that again.
I am an old veteran of the Korean War. I do honor our flag, and the freedom of our great country.
