Dear Sun Spots: Regarding the letter from the reader dealing with meal moths, Longfellow’s Greenhouse in Manchester carries the pheromone traps, brand name Safer.

I had a problem with these pests a couple of years ago. I cleaned all my kitchen cupboards and found an open package of raisins where they had gathered. I enclosed all packages in my cupboards in sealed plastic bags and took care to keep cupboard doors firmly closed and to clean up any spills. I placed 2 or 3 traps around and soon caught many moths. That solved my problem.

On another matter, you might want to advise your readers that if they find they are running low on a fabric to finish a sewing project and cannot find it in stores, there is an advertising service on the Internet which will show a sample of the cloth you want, and someone is likely to respond that they have and will sell what you need, to you. The ad is free, but donations are accepted. The address is missingfabrics.com. – No Name, Manchester.

Answer:
Thank you for the helpful information! Sun Spots spoke with Heather at Longfellow’s Greenhouses and they do sell the Pantry Pest, made by Safer. The kit comes with 2 traps and 2 pheromone lures in protective packets. Longfellow’s is open 8 a.m. to 6 p.m., seven days a week and located at 81 Puddleduck Road in Manchester. They may be reached at 622-5965.

Sun Spots also checked out the Web site www.missingfabrics.com and found that it is an easy site to use. You can either e-mail a scanned picture of the fabric you need to webmaster@missingfabrics.com, or send a 2″ swatch to: Tricia Knob, ATTN: Missing Fabrics, 2700 E. Valley Pkwy, #264, Escondido, CA 92027. If you mail a swatch, also include a $1 charge for scanning.

Dear Sun Spots: I have misplaced the address for the Sister who is collecting canceled stamps. I have located quite a few and would like to send them to her. Keep up the good work that you do for so many people. – Nancy, No Town.

Answer:
Canceled stamps may be sent to Sister Gilberte Boisvert, 209 Lawrence St., Ste. Claire, Methuen, MA 01844-3884. She is seeking canceled stamps, preferably as many foreign ones as you might be able to send (these collect the most money for her ministry). She’ll also accept other stamps. Please leave a half-inch border around the stamp and also please include a regular, uncanceled stamp, so she can send you a thank you card. She’d be grateful and says she responds to all who send her stamps.

Dear Sun Spots: I am Alyssa M. from the Waterford Memorial School that wrote to you about people that work for the common good and our battery drive. Thank you so much for putting my letter in the newspaper. I was so happy to see it in the paper! Tons of people gave us batteries. We were so happy to get them. It really helped us because people read it and donated batteries to us. My mom and dad saw my letter and they donated a bunch of batteries to my class. We reached our goal of 262 9-volt batteries. We want to give two of the batteries to each student in our school to keep them safe by putting them in their smoke detectors. Thanks again. – Alyssa M., Waterford Memorial School.
