The clinics will enable local children and their families to avoid unnecessary long-distance travel to a Shriners Hospital in order to determine medical eligibility.

The types of conditions treated are: scoliosis and spinal deformities, clubfoot and related deformities, osteogenesis imperfecta, spina bifida/myelodysplasia, neuromuscular disorders/cerebral palsy, hand problems, hip disorders, cleft lip and palate, juvenile rheumatoid arthritis, Legg-Calve-Perthes disease, orthopedic problems resulting from cerebral palsy, missing limbs/limb deficiencies, leg length discrepancies, metabolic bone disease, skeletal growth abnormalities, spinal cord injuries and burn injuries.

Shriners Hospitals for Children is a network of pediatric specialty hospitals founded by the Shrine, where children under the age of 18 receive medical care at no cost to the family.

Anyone who know of a child Shriners Hospitals might be able to help should call the toll-free patient referral line at 800-322-5905 or the Kora office at 782-6831. Kora Shriners represent Shriners from Kittery to Skowhegan. For more information, visit www.KoraShriners.org.
