ELLSWORTH – Mechanics Savings Bank recently donated $2,500 toward meeting the match for a challenge grant campaign launched by the Androscoggin County Committee of the Maine Community Foundation in October.

A grant from the Betterment Fund will add a dollar for every two dollars contributed to the campaign – up to $100,000 – through Oct. 15.

“As a local community bank, a significant part of our mission is to empower local people through local decision-making and problem-solving,” said Richard Vail, president and CEO of Mechanics Savings Bank.

“We believe that the Androscoggin County Fund’s charitable support of local endeavors strongly complements our mission.”

Bill Hiss, Androscoggin County Committee chairman, expressed his gratitude for the support.

The Androscoggin County Fund’s Advisory Committee is spearheading the effort to increase charitable resources for the region.
