Dear Sun Spots: For a few years now, my husband and I have been watching “Animal Cops Houston” on Animal Planet.

There was a chief investigator by the name of Jim Boller. For some reason when the new 2007 shows started airing, Jim Boller was not on the shows. I was wondering if you can find out what happened to him. He was a very caring man who had a great passion for the animals he rescued and a deep respect for his rescue team.

Thank you so much for a great column. – Just Wondering, Lewiston.

Answer:
According to a spokesperson with the Houston SPCA, Jim Boller is no longer with the organization. As far as they understand, he is still involved in the animal welfare industry, but they cannot guarantee as to where. They note that he will be missed throughout the company and they wish him the best of luck in his future endeavors. If you would like to learn about the current Investigation Team, visit the Web site and get to know them at www.hspca.org. They thank you for your support and hope you will continue to enjoy the show.

Dear Sun Spots; Has Obie’s Shoe Repair relocated? If so where and what is their phone number? Thank You. – L & P, Lewiston.

Dear Sun Spots: Is there a cobbler in Lewiston or Auburn ? I just have a shoe that has an elastic that would have to be shortened. I tried to do it on my sewing machine but can’t get near enough. Would appreciate hearing from any one that could do the job. Thank you . – No Name, No Town

Answer: We spoke with Tim Farley, owner of Midcoast Shoe Repair in Brunswick. They are located at 14 Maine St., and open Tuesday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. They would be happy to help and can be reached at 725-8557. Sun Spots is not aware of any cobblers in Lewiston or Auburn and we believe Obie’s Shoe Repair has not relocated. We urge anyone who offers this service to write to the column.

Dear Sun Spots: A few days ago you had a small list of people who fix computers. I have been having my computer repaired and corrected by Ray Fournier from “Computer Help” of 459 Washington Ave., Auburn. Telephone 782-2918. I am a little too old to repair it, but not too old to enjoy it. – Irene, Lewiston.

Dear Sun Spots: Every year with the help of our community we make and donate “Mittens for Kids.” Last year 500 pairs of knitted and sewn mittens were donated to the Salvation Army for distribution in Maine. There were also some beautiful hats, scarves, socks and blankets. It’s overwhelming to see the love and caring hand crafted into each donated item. Thanks so much to all of you who have made this campaign so successful for so many years.

This year we once again encourage you to help keep our children warm. For those of you who would like to make “Mittens for Kids,” please stop by Cote’s Sewing and Fabric Center for yarn and fleece. We also have patterns available. Our supply of yarn and fleece is getting low so if you have any you can donate, please drop it off at Cote’s Sewing and Fabric Center located at 730 Center St. in the Auburn Plaza (next to Big Lots). Thank you Sun Spots for helping us get the word out. You’re a blessing to our community. – Lisa Cote-Blake, Cote’s Sewing and Fabric Center, Auburn.
