TURNER – Matt Verrier smashed a double in the fifth inning to break the game open for Oxford Hills as the Vikings sailed away with a 12-1 victory over Leavitt in KVAC baseball action Monday.

The Vikings (2-2) surged for seven runs in the top of the fifth to eventually end the game on the 10-run mercy rule at the conclusion of the inning.

Doug Nash singled in the second inning for the Hornets (0-4) and scored on a Gard Castonguay hit in the losing effort.

Bangor 10, Mt. Blue 6

BANGOR – Kaitlyn Bartlett pounded out a pair of hits and drove in three runs to lead a valient comeback effort, but the Mt. Blue Cougars couldn’t overcome an early deficit and fell to Bangor, 10-6.

Amelia Allen also had a pair of RBI for Mt. Blue (0-4).

Bangor’s Sam Besse went five innings to earn the win and also belted a double for the Rams (4-0). Sadie Redman and Amy Hackett also had two hits each for Bangor.
