BETHEL – At the polls on June 10, Bethel voters will choose two each of selectmen, assessors and SAD 44 board representatives for three-year terms.

Incumbent Selectmen Dennis Doyon and Jack Cross returned nomination papers and are running unopposed, as are longtime Assessor Robert Blake and Donald Bennett. Bennett, now a selectman, is also seeking an assessor’s term.

Doyon, a former longtime Bethel planner, is seeking a second term, and Cross is pursuing a third term.

The only opposition for seats will be the two SAD 44 board terms. Director Roberta Taylor returned nomination papers to seek re-election, but Director Cheryl Thurston didn’t take out papers, Town Clerk Christen Mason said.

Running for Thurston’s seat are Carol Everett, who ran unsuccessfully for a school board seat last year, and newcomer Peter Hedden.

Balloting will be from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. June 10. No other local issues are expected to be on the ballot. Town meeting will be held at 7 p.m. June 11 in SAD 44’s Crescent Park School gymnasium.
