Legion to elect
LISBON FALLS – Nelson-Conley American Legion Post 66 will meet at 7 p.m. Wednesday, May 7, at the Slovak Meeting Room, Avery Street.
The agenda will include balloting on new officers for the coming Legion year, and nominations from the floor will be accepted. Preparations for the Memorial Day observance will be discussed.
All members, prospective members and active-duty personnel are invited to attend.
Legion meeting
SABATTUS – American Legion Post 135 and Auxiliary will meet Monday, May 5, at the post home. An executive session will be held at 7 p.m. followed by the meeting at 7:30.
The Sons of the Legion Squadron will meet at 7 p.m. Friday, May 9, at the post.
Grange supper
WINTHROP – Winthrop Grange 209 will meet at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday, May 6, at the hall on Old Lewiston Road, for a potluck supper. A business meeting will follow at 7:30 p.m. together with CWA and Family Health and Hearing Nights.
Webster Lodge
WALES – Webster Lodge 164, AF and AM, will hold a special communication at 7:30 p.m. Thursday, May 8, to confer the Master Mason Degree on two candidates.
The meeting will be held at the Wales Grange and Masonic Hall, 322 Centre Road. A casserole supper will be served in the dining hall at 6:30 p.m. before the meeting. All regular Master Masons are welcome.

MINOT – Minot Consolidated School kindergarten registration will be held Wednesday, May 7. Call for an appointment at 346-6471.
Pageant finalist
DES MOINES – Alexis “Lexi” Burger, age 10, has been chosen as a state finalist in the National American Miss Iowa Pageant to be held July 3 through 5 at the Marriott Hotel Des Moines. The pageant is for girls ages 4 through 18.
The winner will receive a $1,000 cash award, the official crown and banner, a bouquet of roses and air transportation to compete in the national pageant at Disneyland in California.
Burger’s activities include modeling, softball, basketball, volunteer work and golf. She is the granddaughter of Doris and Michael Davis of Auburn, and Ray and LeAnne Butler of Chicago, Ill., and Peg and Russ Kennedy of Polk City, Iowa.
Bridge results
LEWISTON – The Lewiston-Auburn Bridge Club winners at the Multi-Purpose Center on April 29 were: first, Martine Begert and Jeanine Kivus; second, Luke Merry and Mike Quinn; third/fourth tie, Patricia Garcia and David Lock with Nancy Lindgren and Paul Sherman; fifth/first in B, Marta Clements and Nancy Farmer; second in B, Betty and Doug Sise.
Winners at Schooner Estates in Auburn on April 30 were: first, Paul Barber and Luke Merry; second, Martine Begert and Patricia Garcia; third, Patricia and Mike Quinn; fourth, Jeanine Kivus and David Lock; first in B, Mary Leahey and Claire Lyons.
Games are played at 9 a.m. Tuesdays and 6:30 p.m. Wednesdays. A partner is guaranteed.
