Baccalaureate canceled
KINGFIELD – The Kingfield United Methodist Church baccalaureate service for Mt. Abram High School’s Class of 2008 has been canceled.
The serious illness of the church pastor, the Rev. Marriott Churchill, has resulted in the cancellation. Officers of the church said they were disappointed but felt it inappropriate to proceed without the leadership of Churchill.
Cemetery meeting
FARMINGTON – The annual meeting of the Chesterville Hill Cemetery Association will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, May 10, at the Union Baptist Church at Farmington Falls.
Relay pie sale
FARMINGTON – A Mother’s Day pie sale will be held from 9 a.m. to noon Saturday, May 10, at the Wal-Mart parking lot. Proceeds will benefit the American Cancer Society through the Franklin Memorial Hospital Relay For Life Team.
For more information and special requests, contact Kristina at 314-0859. There will be 20 homemade varieties to choose from and more than 100 pies.
The Relay For Life will be held Friday, June 13, at Mt. Blue High School. Relay is an overnight event that brings communities together to learn about and raise money for the fight against cancer.
Obtain artifacts
FARMINGTON – The Farmington Historical Society has recently obtained priceless artifacts on early life in Farmington and Franklin County from the Benjamin and Natalie Butler estate.
Former Historical Society Curator Nancy Porter has been reviewing and cataloging the items from the Butler home and will share the treasures with society members and friends at a meeting on Monday, May 12, at the Henderson Memorial Baptist Church, Academy Street.
There will be a potluck supper at 6 p.m. followed by a business meeting and program at 7. The program will be “Sharing Farmington’s History.” Porter will display a sampling of articles obtained from the Butler estate.
