LEWISTON – In recognition of UV Awareness Month, Optometric Associates will host a free public seminar at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday, May 7, at its offices at 168 East Ave. Seating will be limited; those who wish to attend should call ahead at 207-784-3564.

In the seminar, titled “UV Light: What You Can’t See Can Hurt You,” Dr. Stephen Ebersole will discuss how UV light works, what the dangers are and what steps can be taken to minimize the risk of cataract formation and macular degeneration, among other things.

There will be refreshments and finger foods available. All attendees will be entered to win a free pair of 100-percent UV blocking Maui Jim brand polarized sunglasses.
