GILEAD – The U.S. Forest Service will celebrate the return of migrating birds as they complete their journey from the tropics to their summer habitat in New England on Saturday, May 10.

Wildlife Biologist Lesley Rowse will lead a bird walk from 7 to 9 a.m. in the White Mountain National Forest.

Participants should meet at the junction of Route 113 and the Wild River Road, three miles south of Route 2 in Gilead. In the event of rain, call 603-466-2713, ext. 231, after 6 a.m. for possible postponement. The rain date is Sunday, May 11.

Birders of all ages and experience are invited to join and learn to identify birds by sight and song.

There is no charge for attending, and no preregistration is necessary.

Migratory birds travel from Central America, South America, Mexico and the Caribbean to find nesting habitat across North America.
