At Philip W. Sugg Middle School in Lisbon, we celebrated the end of MEA testing by having a FUN WEEK from March 25th through March 28th. On Tuesday, there were lunchtime math challenges in the cafeteria. If students got the problems correct, they won a prize. During the week there were also volleyball and waffle ball games after school. Wednesday was beach day. Students dressed up in summer clothes and accessories. Thursday was Spring training day which celebrated the start of baseball season by wearing anything having to do with baseball. Friday was Crazy Hat Day, dance, dance revolution and Guitar Hero day. Guitar Hero is a video game played with an interactive plastic guitar. Students got the chance to play either medium, hard or expert level of the game. Two winners on each level played against each other at an assembly on Friday. Nick Cory won the medium level against Bryce King. T. J. Harrington won the hard level again Phillip Tapley, and Matt Hussey won expert level against Ben Randall. There was also a dance on Friday sponsored by the yearbook staff.

This week was the first year at PWS students had a FUN WEEK to celebrate the end of MEA testing. This Advocate reporter asked Holly Hogan if she liked FUN WEEK. “Yes, it was a nice experience to celebrate the end of the MEA’s. It changed the regular school week and gave it a twist,” shared Holly. “My favorite part was beach day because we got to wear what we wanted, and because I love the beach,” shared Cheyenne Cameron.

FUN WEEK basically was to celebrate the end of a long, hard week of testing, and to celebrate how well students did on the MEA tests.
