POWNAL – As part of the town’s bicentennial celebration, the Pownal Scenic and Historical Society will hold its heritage plant sale from 9 a.m. to noon Saturday, May 17, at Mallett Hall, Route 9, Pownal Center.

Proceeds will help fund the publication of a town history, written by members of the society, “On Pownal Time, One Hundred Years in a Rural Maine Town, 1908-2008.”

The sale will include more than 50 heritage and hybrid varieties of Pownal-garden-grown perennials, herbs, ground covers, rhubarb roots, hops, shrub roses, lilacs and other stock.

There will be 20 varieties of daylilies, including the fragrant lemon lily. All stock is locally grown.

Bradbury Mountain Arts will hold the spring show and sale from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. in the DeWitt Room, Mallett Hall.
